Introduction
SHEARFORCE is an INTERCOLLEGIATE SPORTS TOURNAMENT hosted entirely by VIT’s PVP College of Architecture with the intention of strengthening fraternal bonds amongst all architectural colleges all over India.
Shearforce is an event that is very energetically and enthusiastically nourished and nurtured since its inception by Shri. Jitendra Pitaliya (Secretary, VIT Trust). It is the brainchild of Ar. Piyush Sheopuri (ex-student of PVPCOA) and was executed by Ar. Chinmay Shah and Ar. Vishal Sonigra (ex-students of PVPCOA) on the lines of the Bauhaus School of Thought, which was the first college of Architecture to insist that Sports is also important in a school of architecture for the all-round development and well-being of the students of Architecture. This initiative is handled at the ground level by the sports team and volunteers from PVPCOA and behind that supported by Ar. Prof. Prasanna Desai (Director, PVPCOA).
After 3 years of anticipation and hope Shearforce is back in full swing. Shear Force has always been one of the most awaited tournaments for architecture colleges in and around Pune every year. An intercollegiate sports tournament is organized each year for the students of architecture colleges from Maharashtra. This year we launch into the 10th successful year of Shearforce, completing a decade of imbibing love and passion for sports in the architectural fraternity. This time, we have about 600 players from architecture colleges all over Maharashtra participating, and we're proud to say that Shearforce is back, bigger and better! This time we have 57 teams of Football, Basketball, and Volleyball from 19 architectural colleges across Maharashtra. This year, the venue is SRPF Ground at Wanowrie. We have a vision for Shearforce, that one day this community will grow to encompass sportsmen from all games, forming the spirit that feeds the fire that is Shearforce.
